Lucky Night
Sarah Cheveau

Penetrate the forest at night time and discover the gripping life that escapes our daytime gaze!

A child tells that one evening, at nightfall, she went into the forest, and shares what she saw there. Guided by the brave child, the reader wanders in the woods and meets a squirrel, a hare, a badger, a family of stags… Until the child finally finds who she came for: a massive wild boar who slowly turns towards her and progressively comes nearer. Frightened by this dangerous creature, the reader dreads the rest of the events… but the child confides her secret wish to the boar and on the next page, off she is sitting astride on its back! This fancy wish provokes laughter and relief and one can only wonder if this lucky night was real or dreamt…

At the end of the book, the author explains how to transform a piece of burned wood into charcoal and the various colours produced by the different varieties of wood.
