Big Hug
Annabelle Buxton
A book that combines a playful format and a comforting narrative text to slowly guide children towards sleep.
In this book, the younger ones will meet no less than 9 animal species: Siberian bears, Brazilian tamarins, Ethiopian servals, Greenland seals, Nicaraguan caimans, French swallows… Each one of them has a good reason to ask the reader for a big hug before going to sleep: the need to be congratulated, supported, comforted, thanked, calmed… one of them doesn’t want to be hugged at all, and yes, you should only hug someone who wants to! From 10 to 1, every page readers turn, they will meet a new animal, discover a new world, give a stroke with their fingers or the palm of their hand… until ultimately discovering the face of a baby peacefully asleep.
With its irresistible images, Big Hug explores paired themes such as big and small, the multitude and the unique, the specificities of each species and what connects us, connecting individual stories into a universal big hug.
