A Long, Long Life
Giulia Vetri

A gorgeous book about the duration
of animals’ life.

From the very short life of a fruit fly (2 months) to the eternity of the immortal jellyfish that regenerates itself, this book is a captivating exploration of animals’ lifespan. Did you know that elephants live approximately 60 years, which represents 100 butterfly lives, or that a hen will live for 12 years, i.e. 3 times longer than a worm or a wild fox? This system of comparisons creates surprises and invites young readers to think about the place of human beings in the bigger picture of life on earth.

This enthralling book celebrates the variety of species, invites to think about the relativity of time, and unveils what can influence lifespan: being a male or a female, wild or domesticated, having its natural habitat modified by pollution or climate change, etc.
