A Flock of Sheep
Jean Da Ros
“Shoal of fish”, “zeal of zebras”, “murmuration of starlings”… Did you know that language is so rich when it comes to describing animals groups?
Obstinacy of buffaloes, flamboyance of flamingos, army of caterpillars, smack of jellyfish… language is richer than you would think to describe animals groups! Jean Da Ros proves it here by displaying their often surprising and rarely used official names.
The poetry and humour arising from these unknown designations isn’t the only surprise in this book. Indeed, to represent each group of animals, the author has put together coloured beads and photographed them from above. The compositions reproduce with a great impression of movement the stylized figures of the bees and the elephants, the giraffes and the parrots… For the enjoyment of children and adults alike!
A particularly original book, both in its subject and its form, where children will have fun counting the animals on each page.
