31 Boxes
Cécile Boyer
A budding artist, lunch in Tokyo, a grazed knee and a rainy day: these are merely some of the things you’ll come across in this book.
This book contains 31 boxes, 31 times the question “what’s in this box?” and 31 surprising answers to that question! Cécile Boyer cleverly plays with the curiosity of the reader: just by turning the page, the simple and graphic shape of a closed box makes way for the rich and narrative spectacle of an open box. Following this simple mechanism, a shoebox contains nothing less than a night at the opera; a toolbox is hazard for the fingers, and in a fishing box you will find a peaceful morning near the river.
In this original book carried by stylized illustrations, the imaginative and poetic answers create a surprising effect, encouraging readers to open their minds and think “outside the box”.
